 |
Bienvenidos! - Welcome! - This unique island is often called the world's largest open-air
museum and is the most isolated island in the world. Located 2,000 miles east of Tahiti.
Easter Island, or Rapa Nui as it is called by the locals, is most famous for the moais,
huge images of gods carved from volcanic stone and set all around the island facing the
sea. The population is a mixture of Polynesian and Spanish. Temperatures average in the
70s to 80s F year round. Visiting Easter Island in August to October will offer the best
weather. The official language is Spanish, but Rapa-Nui, the native language, is also
spoken.
