NiueNiue is one of the world's smallest countries. This 11 mile-wide island lies between Tonga and the Cook Islands. It is not a typical South Pacific Island. There are no rivers and just a few beaches, but it is truly a beautiful island in its own right, surrounded by a coral reef, several limestone caves, and crystal clear waters, which have a visibility of up to 300 feet. Total relaxation, friendly people, snorkeling, scuba diving, and a totally unhurried Polynesian lifestyle is what you will find on Niue. Its tropical climate averages in the mid-70s F. December through March is the rainy season, so it is not recommended to travel there during these months. Niue is a self-governing territory with free association with New Zealand. You will find Niuean and English being spoken on the island.
