Today enjoy a full day tour of Goroka, the provincial capital of the Eastern Highlands. You will stop at picturesque, local villages along the way. After arrival in Goroka, time will be allowed for a museum visit. In the early evening, you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Port Moresby, met by our local representative at Port Moresby airport, and transferred to the Travelodge for immediate check-in. Today you will depart Mount Hagen by charter flight to Timbunke to board the Melanesian Discoverer. The Sepik River adventure begins with a visit to Yentchen, where a "haus tambaran" can be seen. The vessel then takes you downstream to the entrance of the barat (canal) near the Chambri lakes where you can visit the village of Aiborn. (L/D)

Gaining greater insight into the culture of this fascinating country, cruise the wandering waterways of the Sepik. Stop at Tambanuum, one of the largest villages on the Sepik, and at Kambaramba, a village built entirely on stilts over water. Also visit Manam, an active volcano, which continues to expel smoke, rocks, and fire from its main crater. (B/L/D)
